FAQ
Everything families, individuals, and healthcare professionals most often want to know about MEVA, Mentage, and how it all works.
Seven real-world activities on a tablet or computer. Sorting, completing patterns, recalling, sequencing. Nothing abstract. Nothing childish. Fifteen minutes, one screen at a time.
No. There are no right or wrong answers displayed. No timer. No score at the end. MEVA is designed so that a 68-year-old never feels evaluated. They feel engaged.
When sharing features launch, your parent chooses what to share with you and when. You will not have independent access to their patterns. That boundary is not a limitation. It is the design.
No. MEVA is a general wellness tool. It does not diagnose, treat, prevent, or cure any disease or medical condition. It is not a clinical screener. What it does is give you and your family a structured, private way to track engagement patterns over time.
About fifteen minutes for a full session. There are no time limits on individual activities. Your parent moves at their own pace. There is no penalty for going slowly, and no reward for going fast.
MEVA is designed primarily for iPad and tablet use, and is also accessible on desktop computers. It is not optimized for small phone screens. The interface is built for clarity - large text, one screen at a time, no cluttered navigation.
The Family Guide covers exactly this. The short version: lead with curiosity, not concern. Many families introduce MEVA as something they are trying together, not something they are asking a parent to do because they are worried.
Yes. MEVA is designed for independent use, but nothing prevents a family member from sitting alongside. Many families find the activities become a shared routine rather than a solo task - which makes the engagement more consistent and more comfortable.
That is a real and common situation. Resistance usually comes from one of two places: fear of what they might find out, or feeling like they are being managed. The Family Guide addresses both. The most important thing is not to push - the data only matters if the engagement is genuine.
No. MEVA does not produce diagnostic output. It does not flag decline. It does not send you alerts. What it builds is a structured engagement record over time - something concrete to bring to a healthcare conversation if and when your family chooses to have one.
Only you, by default. Sharing with a family member or a healthcare provider is a deliberate, opt-in choice - never automatic. When you open MEVA, you see your own patterns first. What you share, and with whom, is entirely your decision.
No. Mentage does not sell, license, or share individual engagement data with third parties for advertising or commercial purposes. Our Privacy Policy is the authoritative document on this. We will keep it plain and readable.
Yes. You can request deletion of your account and all associated engagement data at any time. We will provide a clear, accessible way to do this - not buried in settings.
MEVA has not completed independent clinical trials. Two IRB-approved studies are currently active - one at a North Carolina clinical site, one in partnership with Pace University. We will share results when they are available. We are not claiming validation we do not yet have.
MEVA's task architecture draws on published neuroscience across six cognitive domains - attention, visuospatial ability, processing speed, executive function, memory, and language - and is informed by Montessori-based engagement research for older adults. The design intent is to reduce cultural and literacy bias present in many standard cognitive tools.
No. MEVA cannot detect, diagnose, or screen for Alzheimer's disease, dementia, or any other medical condition. It is a wellness engagement tool. If you have clinical concerns about a family member, please speak with their healthcare provider.
